The Balboa Skating Rink was a fun place to go and roller skate. There was no other place like it at that time. My father was commissioned to build the skating rink, and my mother helped to organize the rules, hire staff, and help select the needed supplies. My parents truly enjoyed those years of helping with the skating rink. There were classes taught, and many programs of entertainment--various skate shows. Both of my brothers and I learned to skate very early in life. This family picture is very precious to me.
