No longer warning of shoal waters along the Patapsco River and the Baltimore ship channel, this screwpile lighthouse was the second to be built on the Chesapeake. It was completed in 1855, and remained in service until the early 1070's. Now resting securely (moved in 1987) on land, this lighthouse is one of several Baltimore inner Harbor exhibits devoted to marine history. It is open to the public, and provided a good view f the design and construction of these type of lighthouses.
