Nobska Point Lighthouse is located between Buzzard's Bay and Vineyard Sound. It stands out on the rocky headlands above Woods Hole Harbor. This lighthouse is one of only three lighthouses with minature brass lighthouses as ornamentation atop each balustrade on the gallery. Cape Neddick, and Lubec Channel lights are the others.
When I visited this lighthouse, there was a thick fog, which added a special mystery in the air. It certainly shows why lighthouses are necessary! This is truly a beautiful lighthouse, which stands boldly on a small hill. I find it interesting how it takes on such a different appearance when viewed from various directions. The lighthouse is accessible, and there is a parking lot right next to the lighthouse. A beach area is right across the street. Truly a lighthouse that I hope one day to again visit.
