"Old" Presque Isle Lighthouse

New Presque Isle Lighthouse went into service in 1871. The beacon from the 113-foot tower is one of the highest on the Great Lakes. The beacon is visible twenty-five miles away. The Old and New Presque Isle Lighthouse towers now stand in neighborly proximity. The lighthouse is on a scenic one-hundred-acre park maintained by the Presque Isle Township.

***Directions: From Presque Isle, follow Grand Lake Road past the intersection of Highway 638, or from U.S. Highway 23 take Highway 638 to Grand Lake Road and turn left. The Old Presque Isle Lighthouse and Museum are just over half a mile to the north. From the museum, continue north about 1 mile on Grand Lake Road to New Presque Isle Lighthouse, where you'll find a second museum and gift shop.

***If you have a photo of this lighthouse, that you'd like to share...please email me.
