Cape Cod (Highland) Lighthouse

Cape Cod Lighthouse, also known as Highland Lighthouse, was built in 1857. The tower is sixty-feet tall. There is an aero-marine beacon that produces a range of about twenty-three miles.

I really enjoyed visiting this lighthouse...the location is absolutely beautiful. The lighthouse was moved recently, to prevent it from falling off the cliff due to erosion. The lighthouse is located in the middle of a golf course, which is quite a unique sight.

***Directions: From U.S. Highway 6 in Truro, follow the CAPE COD LIGHT signs. Contact the Truro Historical Society, P.O. Box 486, Truro, MA 02666.

Old Boca Grande Lighthouse

"Keep The Lights Shining", is my favorite expression. I love to visit lighthouses, climb to the top of their tall towers with spiral stairs, and to photograph them. My son jokes with me when I take my last look at a lighthouse before leaving it, and says "burn it in your retina".

When I am not visiting a lighthouse, I enjoy reading books about them, or surfing the web for websites about lighthouses. I hope that you enjoy your visit to "Jo's Wonderland". It is a pleasure to share my hobby with you.

In this section of my website, I shall try to provide interesting information on various selected lighthouses--a different lighthouse each month. For more information about all the lighthouses on my website, please visit my "Lighthouse Wonderland" section.
