The Holland Harbor Lighthouse has its beacon located atop one of the twin gables of the keeper's quarters. The dwelling is encased in steel plates which are painted red. The gable roof of the lighthouse reflects the heavy Dutch settlement that is prevelant in that area. In 1936, the lens was removed and given to the Netherlands Museum in the town of Holland NR.
