Grand Traverse Lighthouse was built in 1853. The tower is square, and the keeper's quarters is a large, two-story brick building. The lighthouse was retired in 1972. The structure now houses a lighthouse museum. The new days and hours are as follows:
May 1-May 31 open 7 days a week from 12PM -4PM
June 1-Labor Day open 7 days a week from 10:00AM - 7 PM
Labor Day - Oct 31 open 7 days a week from 12 PM -4PM
Nov open Sat & Sun only from 12-4 PM
***Directions: The lighthouse is located in Leelanau State Park, at the end a long peninsula pointing northward into Lake Michigan. From Traverse City follow M-22 to Northport and then CR-201 to the park.
