The USS Cristobal was one of the two ships the the American Government used for transportation of Canal Zone employees, to go the United States. The USS Ancon, was the other ship. About ever 2-3 years, my family would go to the United States for a vacation. Riding on the ship, was always an adventure. A nice swimming pool on deck, activites to do on deck, or sit on a deckchair the whole trip because of sea sickness, like I did. I feasted mostly on saltine crackers, and cokes. There would be a stop for one day at Haiti, but later when problems developed in that country, a new route was put into effect. Arriving in the United States, seeing the Statue Of Liberty, was always a highlight.

I recently heard from Timothy Lee, telling me that the kids in this photo are of his family....

Subject: RE: S.S. Cristobal - I'm in your picture! Ya won't believe this (I didn't) but... The kids in the shuffleboard picture of the S.S. Cristobal are my family. From left to right: Timothy Lee, Kevin Lee, Dennis Lee, unknown, Deborah Lee This voyage was during the second week of March 1969, as we debarked on St Patrick's Day in New Orleans.
