The Chinese Gardens is where we "zonians" bought all of our fresh fruit and vegetables. The vendors were always very nice, and gave kids free samples. My family often bought a whole stalk of bananas, hung them from a rope in the basement for us to enjoy picking a banana as fresh as possible. I sure do miss that!
