Cana Island Lighthouse

Established in 1870, Canal Island Lighthouse beams its light seventeen miles out into Lake Michigan. It has an eighty-six-foot tower and adjacent one-and-a-half-story dwelling. The station's original third-order Fresnel lens remains in operation.

***Directions: Take County Road Q north from Bailey Harbor, then follow Cana Island Road and Cana Cove Road to the lighthouse. The grounds are open to the public unitl 5:00 p.m. daily, but the dwelling is a private residence.
