Big Sable Point Lighthouse was built in 1867, and stands on a concrete base that looks something like the bow of a ship. The light has a third-order Fresnel lens. The daymark design is white and black bands, and is considered on of the most distinctive structures on the Great Lakes.
***Directions: From U.S. Highway 10 in Ludington, turn right onto Lakeshore Drive and follow it for approximately 6 miles to Ludington State Park. The lighthouse can be reached about half-mile walk up the beach from the parking lot.
