Anvil Point Lighthouse is located in Dorset, England. It is built of local stone, and was completed in 1881. The light was originally illuminated by a paraffin vapor burner, and in 1960 was converted from oil to electricity. The old fog signal, a cannon, was replacerd in 1981 by new automatic equipment. The fog signal has now been discontinued. The lighthouse was automated on May 31, 1991.
The tower height is 12 meters, and the height of light above mean high water is 48 meters. The lamp uses a 1000 watt filament lamp, and flashes white every 10 seconds. Range of light is 24 nautical miles.
