Absecon Lighthouse has a first-order Fresnel lens, with a focal plane almost 170 feet above sea level. The beacon can be seen from more than twenty miles away. General Meade was the engineer for the design, and Keeper Daniel Skull first lit the lamps inside the lens in early 1857.

***This is the third tallest lighthouse in the United States.

***Directions: The lighthouse is located at the intersection of Vermont and Pacific avenues in Atlantic City.
