Brant Point Lighthouse, is America's second-oldest lighthouse. After seven previous lighthouses, the eighth was built with a 47-foot brick tower and brick keeper's house. The tower received a fourth-order Fresnel lens, showing a fixed red light. Shining from a height of only twenty-six feet above the water, its occulting red light (occulting 4 seconds, lighted 3 seconds), has a range of about ten miles.
